Daniel P. Diaz is a first-generation Cuban American whose family story is rooted in the opportunity America provided after his family left Communist Cuba and rebuilt their lives. For Daniel, building Sovereign Gold & Silver Exchange is part of continuing that American Dream and helping preserve the freedom that made it possible.

That personal history informs a clear mission: put sound money into the hands of as many people as possible, educate them about its importance, and protect their right to own and use it. Daniel believes sound money is necessary for a free economy and a free society. His work connects that conviction with practical action, from public education and legislative advocacy to making physical precious metals accessible.

ADVANCING SOUND MONEY

As Executive Director of Citizens for Sound Money, Daniel works with lawmakers, businesses, advocates, and citizens to advance monetary freedom through education, coalition building, and legislative reform.

In Florida, he helped advance the effort to remove the minimum-purchase barrier from the sales-tax exemption for gold, silver, and platinum bullion. That change took effect in August 2025, extending the exemption to qualifying bullion purchases regardless of price. He also worked with fellow advocates to advance gold and silver legal-tender legislation. His current priorities include clear implementation and protecting the distinction between the existing bullion exemption and newer legal-tender provisions.

His work also reaches beyond Florida. Under his leadership, C4SM supported the successful 2026 effort to restore Maryland’s statewide sales-tax exemption for qualifying precious-metals purchases, alongside local dealers and other sound-money advocates. The legislation became law in May and took effect in July. It followed a campaign in which Daniel helped organize opposition to the tax and bring attention to its consequences for customers and small businesses.

Daniel also helped champion Missouri’s Constitutional Money Act through C4SM’s work with state advocates. Enacted in 2025, it is legislation he regards as the most comprehensive sound-money law in the country. Its framework recognizes gold and silver specie, supports voluntary private payments and wages, and establishes protections against state confiscation.

Through Sound Money Matters and the Sound Money Hour with Lynette Zang, Daniel also helps turn interest in sound money into informed civic participation. These conversations bring together lawmakers, experienced advocates, and industry voices to explain how legislation works, how to testify effectively, and how citizens can organize in their communities.
